We are looking for an additional project manager with significant experience in eCommerce, particularly on Magento 2/Adobe Commerce.
We are a very experienced, passionate but friendly team working chiefly on eCommerce projects such as full builds, integrations and new middleware products to help businesses streamline their critical business operations and improve their marketing opportunities.
We also work on product development and we’re in receipt of innovation funding related to eCommerce.
The Role
This role requires a robust understanding of e-commerce and associated web technologies, coupled with extensive experience in Project Management and Agile methodologies, such as SCRUM, tailored to the specific demands of each project.
As a Senior Technical E-commerce Project Manager, you will take ownership of delivering multiple high-impact projects simultaneously. Your key responsibilities will include ensuring the highest levels of quality, client relationship building and management and fostering team collaboration. Proactive decision-making is crucial, as you will need to anticipate challenges, take the initiative in resolving issues, and lead your project team effectively.
In this role, leadership is paramount. You will guide and mentor your project team, promoting collaboration and innovation, while also ensuring that critical decisions—especially those with significant business implications—are made in consultation with senior leadership. Your ability to involve key stakeholders at the right moments will be essential in driving project success and aligning outcomes with broader business objectives.
Key Requirements
- Direct working knowledge of Magento 2 Open Source and Adobe Commerce, with a solid understanding of the key features such as B2B and how they might be used in various problem scenarios.
 
- Familiarity with common integrations with Magento such as payment gateways, ERP, PIM and marketing systems and a strong understanding of Magento architecture, including modules, themes, and APIs.
 
- Familiarity with Magento’s admin panel, product management, and order processing systems.
 
- Knowledge of UX/UI principles and best practices. 
 
- Knowledge of common e-commerce payment gateways (e.g., PayPal, Stripe) and experience overseeing their integration.
 
- Knowledge of testing methodologies, including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
 
- Proficiency in Agile project management practices, including Scrum and Kanban, to manage development sprints and product backlogs, assign tasks and manage resources effectively to meet project timelines.
 
- Ability to identify potential project risks early in a project and develop mitigation and recovery strategies.
 
- Experience in creating and reviewing technical specifications and ensuring they are aligned with client business requirements.
 
- Ability to communicate technical details effectively with non-technical stakeholders, including clients and executive teams.
 
- Proven experience in documenting project progress, technical challenges, and solutions and using documentation and collaboration tools such as Atlassian, Jira, Trello, Tempo & GanttPro. 
 
- Proven track record of successfully delivering high-quality e-commerce projects on time, within budget and to scope.  
 
- Experience in making informed decisions that balance technical feasibility, client needs, and project constraints. 
 
Bonus skills
- Advanced understanding of Core Web Vitals: Familiarity with Google’s Core Web Vitals and techniques to improve them.
 
- Understanding of SEO best practices, including how to optimise SEO and content structures for better search engine visibility.
 
- Advanced understanding of Google Analytics and how to interpret customer behaviour and e-commerce data in analytics tools. 
 
Responsibilities
- Manage and deliver multiple concurrent projects, with varying degrees of complexity and business priority, ensuring the highest quality of work from all teams involved.
 
- Manage client expectations, providing regular updates, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
 
- Define client roadmaps and work with clients to set the vision and plan larger projects that will contribute towards their overall goals.
 
- Undertake monthly strategy calls with clients, discussing proactive solutions with clients based on your knowledge of their website. Looking at general e-commerce, Magento, third-party marketplace modules and commonly integrated solutions (PIM, ERP, payments) both current best practices and new trends/technology. 
 
- Working with the Technical Support Manager and QA staff to ensure best practice QA and UAT and that all client issues are resolved as per best practice. Where needed assist with QA to ensure all work delivered to the client is of the highest possible quality.
 
- Ensure development and project processes are followed for successful implementations and ensure that any exceptions to the process are transparent with risks understood and approved at appropriate organisational levels.
 
- Provide input for global company scheduling and resource allocation and work together with colleagues to manage an efficient balanced allocation of company resources.
 
- Strict monitoring and management of client and project budgets, time tracked on support clients and projects and unbillable client time. 
 
- Ability to estimate and review developer-estimated project costs accurately based on technical scope, resources, and timelines.
 
- Lead technical discussions with clients on proposed projects, involving key development stakeholders as needed, working on estimations to produce accurate, clear, concise SOW documents, and ensuring risks are clearly identified and mitigated. 
 
- Perform regular risk management reviews on clients to help pre-empt future issues.
 
- Lead regular briefing and scrum sessions, ensuring any blockers are addressed quickly and resolved, dependencies are noted and work is progressing as per project plans. 
 
- Lead project retrospectives, guiding these discussions, encouraging open and honest feedback, and ensuring that the outcomes of the retrospectives lead to tangible improvements that are actioned in subsequent projects or processes.
 
- Work with the internal Creative team by delivering detailed proposals, and briefs and be involved in creative reviews with a good eye for UX design.
 
- Define and manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure project deliverables meet agreed standards.
 
- Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism in communication, attitude and teamwork with customers, peers and management. This includes taking accountability, having a growth mindset and acting timeously on feedback. 
 
Additional Responsibilities
- Investigating customer satisfaction and reporting any issues.
 
- Provide some front-line technical support to clients.
 
- Occasional in-person meetings at client offices.
 
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or IT
 
- Minimum 7 years of eCommerce/digital experience with at least 4 in a client-facing technical role. 
 
- Minimum 3 years experience leading/managing project teams
 
- Relevant project management qualifications (PRINCE2, PMP, AGILE, SCRUM etc) or equivalent experience.
 
- Tactical experience in the construction, launch, and management of eCommerce sites within a respected web property with a proven track record of maximising site activity and conversion.
 
- Knowledge of standard technical requirements and practices surrounding eCommerce
 
Bonus points would be gained from:
- Practical working experience of Shopify and BigCommerce
 
- Experience delivering projects on Hyva
 
- Knowledge of key features from other eCommerce platforms and third-party providers.
 
- Strong track record of migrating other solutions to Magento 2
 
- Magento certifications such as Solution Specialist 
 
- Experience working with PHP development frameworks
 
- Strong SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) knowledge
